make money for a beginner?

So i have been mining and got around 7 mill ISK however others have been saying doing missions is a far better way of making money when you are starting off? i am doing the business tutorial missions but they dont seem to give much cash. Where should a new player go for missions that turn a nice profit? any tips on how to make a reasonable amount of money for a beginner would be very helpful!! Thanks
